Grand Opening of Football Pitch
Celebrities from the World of Football joined Guests from the Local Community, Staff, Directors and Governors and Friends and Supporters of Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust to celebrate with pupils and their families the Official Opening of the
Centre of Excellence for Sport in the Community (for disability and disadvantage) Tiger Turf all weather facility.
Ex Spurs and England Payer Gary Stevens led a master class coaching and skills session before presenting medals to all participants and this was followed by fun matches under floodlights between staff, old boys and pupils for the award of the Tiger Challenge Cup for 2008, presented to the winning team by the Chair of Directors of the Trust Mr Ray Winn.
CEO Dr Sue Tresman and the Captain of the Senior Grafham Grange Football Team were amongst the speech makers and Colin Young MBE unveiled a Board of Honour detailing names of former senior Grafham students who had worked with the Football Foundation ( principal funders of the initiative) as Football Ambassadors and helped bring about the vision for the Centre of Excellence for Participation in Sport for those with Disability and Disadvantage in the Community. Other sources of financial backing included Waverley Borough Council Community Fund, Peter Harrison Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Percy Bilton Charity and Bernhard Sunley Charitable Foundation.
The new pitch has already hosted the trials for the SEN Surrey Football Squad and forthcoming bookings include Surrey FA Coaching Courses for Disabled Footballers and Community Coaching Courses.

NEW 3rd Generation Football Facility at Grafham Grange School
Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust ( GGSET) announce the opening of their 3rd Generation Tiger Turf facility which heralds the development of a Centre of Excellence for Football in the Community for community partners and in particular to widen participation for those with Disability and Disadvantage.
With the generous support of the Football Foundation and other Charitable Trusts , the new floodlit facility provides a wonderful opportunity to deliver the power of , principally, football (and other sports and fitness programmes) to promote self esteem , motivation and achievement in players who are vulnerable and may have had only limited opportunities to experience the game until now.
Grafham Grange Staff welcomes expressions of interest from colleagues involved in community football, coaching and referring , and in sport for those with disability/disadvantage and is committed to making the facility available to such groups at prices that will allow all to be included.

2008 Trust Professional Conference
The Programme for the day was ‘Working Together for an Outstanding Future’ and signalled the third in a series of one day conferences designed to engage and empower colleagues across the Trust and promote best practice, skills of evaluation and monitoring and enhance our strategic planning . It saw in the region of 130 delegates engaging in workshops on safeguarding vulnerable young people from the NSPCC and Achieving Outstanding for OFSETD (Education) with Brantridge SIP and Director of ‘Think/Behaviour’ Mandy Reddick. Ancillary staff gained a certificate in Risk Assessment delivered in two sessions at the conference by External trainers from Guildford College.
Head Teachers and the CEO presented reviews of the year from their varied perspectives and Alan Smith, Keith Noble and the CEO launched a period of consultation around the development of our Sites in terms of generating outstanding facilities alongside our aspiration to acquire the Freeholds of both sites (Grafham Grange already having been secured.)
School Journeys
We were again very pleased with our school camps and the enormously positive outcomes for our pupils. These camps underpin the ethos of both of our schools and are aimed at building upon the strong relationships and enhancing the self-esteem of our pupils.
This year the following camps took place.
Brantridge School: Barge trip on the Kennet and Avon canal, Outdoor adventure in the Brecon Beacons, Butlins and the Isle of Wight.
Grafham Grange School’s Camps were again for the second year funded by an ex-pupil these camps were: Cyprus (year 10), Outdoor Adventure in the Gower (year 9) and Dartmoor Adventure Park (years 8 & 7).
Grafham Grange Site
The Trustees and Chief Executive Officer of Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust (founded in 1994 by special act of Parliament) are delighted to announce the acquisition of the Freehold of the Grafham Grange Site in its entirety.
Almost immediately on gaining ownership, the first major development of the site is underway - the construction of a state of the art third generation all - weather pitch with major funding support from the Football Foundation , and also with the support of other Charitable Trusts and Waverley Community Fund. Ready for October 2008, Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust expects that this facility will enable Grafham to become a Centre of Sporting Excellence for the local Community, fostering increased participation in sport for those with Disability and Disadvantage. Working with Surrey FA and the Football Foundation, an ambitious Community Plan is in place with exciting targets to enrich Community Facilities and outcomes in this important area of need.
