Spring Term Football Results for Brantridge

Football Matches at Brantridge School

Spring Term

This term we have played two football matches. One against St Marks Primary School, who are just across the Common in Staplefield, and the other against Farney Close, a senior school from Burgess Hill.

The juniors started a bit nervously, as if in awe of their opponents. After a bit of encouragement from the ref, Gary Ireland, they started to pick up their confidence. Unfortunately after ten minutes three goals were scored by St Marks and we were glad when the first half whistle went. After a good team talk the second half began. The team talk must have been good as after just five minutes, a recent admission to the school, Macauley, had scored two cracking goals. Time was against us, however, and it was still looking tight when with just seconds to go our hero Macauley scored again!  Fantastic!! The final score was 3-3, and we ended up sharing the Gary Cup (this is a cup for matches between the two schools in whatever sport we play, being it football or cricket etc).

The seniors had a bit of a different game. Farney close were definitely a different type of team. They seemed to out play us in all areas. They scored within a couple of minutes of the kick off and we were very impressed. Unfortunately we didn’t play to the best of our ability but we hung on and our heads never went down. In the second half Farney Close started as they had in the first half, With one of their players hitting the post so hard that the goal collapsed! We did however manage to patch things up and our star of this match, Chris, went on to score a couple of goals. The final score was 2-9 to Farney Close and one broken goal post! The boys did well and kept their heads up right until the end.

Well done to both teams.

Successful Affiliation

Successful Affiliation

Grafham Grange School has successfully affiliated with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust as part of a work in progress to attain Specialist Special School Status with the designation Behavioural, Social and Emotional Special Needs.

This is enabling us to forge partnerships with 5 mainstream, maintained schools across the county (both secondary and primary) with which we are developing close working relationships and also with other community groups and service providers including Surrey Youth Service and Surrey Police Youth Intervention Teams.  We are developing opportunities for specialist training for multi- agency workers through these partnerships.

GGSET Annual Trust Conference 2007

The Conference, Working together to build better futures’  was very well received according to informal feedback to my Office, and our facilitator commented on the ‘hugely impressive progress’ that she noted from last year when we all gathered together for the very first time to attend the Strategic Conference.

Thanks to all delegates for their hard work on the day and in the consultation period now underway. For anyone who missed the day there are conference packs available on request from Shelley Hartley.  We aim to produce, by the end of the year, a document that can be available for families, LA’s, potential partners for either school, Inspectors and so on which will give in full the names of the contributors. This will show how we at GGSET deliver the ECM agenda to our students and their families and our many and varied roles and responsibilities on realising this service.
